Welcome To Room 813

I will be going over the rules and expectations with all of the students during class, but I will not be sending a paper copy of my syllabus home with every student. I have posted it online and you can download it anytime you would like to see it. Please fill out this form online.

Before Monday of next week, please have your parents fill out this form online.

Course Objectives:
This year in Project Lead the Way’s: Gateway to Technology, students will cover four foundation units each with its own set of tasks that are to be completed. There will be an overarching theme of “Mission to Mars” but all skills will be applicable to many existing engineering fields.

Design & ModelingStudents apply the design process to solve problems and understand the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They work in teams to design tools, furniture and living modules for use on Mars.  They will be bringing home several items throughout the course that will be created on our 3d printers, CNC Carvey machine, laminate cutter and even our LASER Engraver.
Science of Technology
Science impacts the technology of yesterday, today, and the future. Students apply the concepts of mathematics, physics, and technology to hands on projects, including the design and manufacture of an air powered dragster that will be raced against other students.

Magic of Electrons
Through hands-on projects, students explore electricity, the behavior and parts of atoms, and sensing devices. They learn knowledge and skills in basic circuitry design, and examine the impact of electricity on the world around them.
Automation & Robotics
Students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program physical machines such as Mars rovers, excavators, bull dozers and fork lifts.
